Discovering the Quartier-du-Moulin: the charm of New England
Discovering the Quartier-du-Moulin: the charm of New England
Guide: Michel Prévost, D.U., President of the Société d'histoire de l'Outaouais
Departure: In front of the Resolute Forest Products plant, 79 Main Street, Gatineau
Time: 10:00
The arrival in 1926 of the Canadian International Paper (CIP) allows the development of a unique historic district reminiscent of those of New England. Explore this exceptional wooded heritage site where the beautiful wooden and gabled houses have kept their old charm. The large factory that borders it was once one of the largest CIP plants in Canada. It is in this sector, which gave birth to the small town of Gatineau Mills and subsequently Gatineau, that thousands of workers worked for several generations.
We will have lunch at St-Hubert after the visit.
